NO MOSQUITOES CAMPAIGN

Step 3:Killing mosquitoes with an electronic bat
Step 2:Tires kept in upright position
Step 1 :Throwing the tires in order to drain the water inside
Water collected inside a tyre
Logo of NO MOSQUITOES

We found some mosquito larvae growing in some old tires in our house. We decided to remove these larvae from them. So, we started to remove the water where these larvae grew by kicking, throwing and even by rolling them. Finally we removed the larvae with the water inside. We did not stop there. We kept the tires in upright position so that it will not be filled with water. We then searched for a logo for our no mosquito campaign. And finally we found one

YBT IS BACK

We are very sorry that we could not post anything for two-and-a half months. This was because all of us caught fever at the end of May. And in June, our schools reopened after our summer holidays. And we were very busy so we could not post anything at our blog. Now we will tell you what we did after that:

July 07-We made a box for collecting old newspaper cutouts. Named it YBT vault.

July 20-We planted a new mango tree.

Made a YBT news paper.

July 23-got idea of a contest(we won’t tell what is it about now!!)

That’s all we could do in these two months.

We will try to write this blog regularly from today.

KEEP READING OUR BLOG FOR MORE POSTS!!!!!!!

Much Wanted VISITORS

Well it happened! We heard the good news from our Vice President – some crows came to eat rice from our nest. We saw the nest away from the place we had kept it. The crows ate the rice and the nest was moved from its original position. The rice was scattered everywhere. Then we placed the nest once more in its original position and put some more rice and water for the birds. Tomorrow morning when we came out we heard a noise from the place where the nest was kept. We rushed to the terrace without making noise. We were surprised to see a crow eating rice from the nest. But we were not able to take photos as the crow flew off very soon.

First flop; Then success

Today (7-6-09) we made two nests from the grass that we have plucked and dried earlier. In the meeting held yesterday we decided to put some water and some other items to attract birds. Then we placed a chair under the mango tree to keep the nest in a branch of the tree. But we were not successful in that attempt. So we decided to keep the nest in our terrace. We found a good place to keep our nest. We put some water in the nest in a small pot for the birds. We also put three artificial eggs just for fun.  Seeing the terrace we thought we would make it our observing room. We cleaned a sofa for sitting in the room. We cleared out the logs of wood. After all the clearing up we went for a bath and lunch. When we came back we saw a crow taking away an egg from our nest!!! We know that we are not as perfect as the birds are in making nest. We are very happy that at least the crow thought the nest and eggs are real. We hope to see a bird or two in our nest very soon.

Made by YBT; Made for Nature

We never imagined that we had such great ideas. Today (4-5-2009) we plucked some grass to clear the area where there was too much of them. There was also many of them where we planted the seeds of tomato, chillies etc. So we plucked them too. Only after plucking them, we remembered what the aim of the club is-to protect the nature. So after some discussion, we had an idea. To make nests with the grass that was collected. Then we kept the grass in two pots and allowed them to dry. We hope that we will be able to make the nests and keep it in the branches of the mango tree in our garden. We hope that one day a bird will make our nest its home.

More plants:By YBT

Yesterday (Monday), we planted three new plants. The new plants are tomatoes, spinach and chilies (they are all seeds). We started at 5 p.m.The weather was sunny. We found a wet place in our garden. Then we ploughed the land. Then, the border was made with sticks and bricks. After dividing the land into three, we started to plant the seeds. In the first section of the divided land we planted the seeds of tomato, in the second, spinach and in the third, chilies. The spinach that we planted at the first of this month was taken away by a group of ants nearby so this time we sprinkled some broken rice in top of the seeds.

The rain plays spoilsport

YBT club’s bitter gourd plant was a bit damaged by the heavy wind and rain on Sunday. However the rain did not affect the other plants of the club. It was also the club’s general body meeting on Sunday. We decided to replant the green grams. The bitter gourd will be replanted later after its recovery from the damage. We did not water the plants today according to the advice of our club’s advisor. We thought that this heavy rain would affect the growth of our newly planted seeds. Unexpectedly the gram seeds grew up .

The new plants of ybt

Yesterday(17/4/2009),we planted some more seeds. We planted chillies, agasthyamuringa(A TYPE OF TREES GROWN IN INDIA) and grams. We also planted some mint leaves. It was about 5 in the evening when we started planting these mentioned above.First we poured some water to make the soil wet before we put the seeds in the soil. Then we planted the mint leaves in a pot. The whether was cloudy. But we hope that doesn't affect the growth of our plants. In the end,we made a border with small small sticks all around that area where we plnted the seeds. We only planted half of the chillies(these are not seeds.).The chillies were put in water yesterday night and we would plant it today.

HELLO EVERYONE !!!!!!

If you think YBT is a person then u r wrong. It is a nature club (it is a small one may be the smallest one in the world) founded by school students in a family during vacation. This photo is taken from our garden.
